London Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Qualifications (LCCI IQs) have been awarded since 1887 and are recognised by employers, governments and universities worldwide. In 2003, the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examination Board merged with Goal assessments, a pioneer in online testing, forming EDI.

Edi has now become one of the UK's leading awarding bodies, accredited by the British government, and also work closely with Ministries of Education around the world.

There are more than 5,000 training centres, schools, colleges, universities in 103 countries offering LCCI International Qualifications, and every year approximately 250,000 students choose the qualifications to further their professional and academic careers.

About the Qualification


Students who pass Business Administration, Business Practice, Text Production and English for Business within 24 months, can combine the individual certificates for the Private Secretary's Diploma.

Aims of the Qualification


The aims of this qualification are to enable candidates to:
  • demonstrate a basic understanding of the need for efficient business administration
  • provide examples of business communications and complete simple forms
  • process information and follow instructions
  • describe the uses of office equipment and services
  • demonstrate a general understanding of the influences on business organisation
  • understand the importance of specialisation in a business context
  • appreciate how business planning helps identify organisational aims and objectives
  • write apt and accurate English suited to the stated purpose
  • understand and write English using formats that are current and common in business communication
  • adopt the tone, form, layout, content and composition appropriate to the requirements of a given situation
  • understand spoken and recorded Business English at the defined level
  • participate in conversations
  • use the keyboard at a speed determined by qualifi cation level
  • demonstrate knowledge and skills in the following areas:
  • accurate keyboarding
  • proof-reading and error correction
  • appropriate use of stationery
  • intelligent display
  • consistency of style
  • planning and organising work within deadlines
  • follow instructions that simulate those given in a realistic, practical business situation
  • present documents attractively using a business-like, appropriate and consistent format
  • ensure documents are acceptable for signature by an employer, ie accurate and mailable

Course Duration


Part-Time: 6.25 months

Course Delivery


The course will be delivered on a part-time basis in 49 lessons of 3 hours each.

The course is wholly delivered in Singapore. Students will have access to local tutors and resources provided by Uptrend College. Resources and materials provided for students will include lecture notes and references for reading in books, professional journals, articles and websites.

Business Administration
This is an advanced qualification for those who need to develop a thorough understanding of administration systems, business services and management support. This ensures the candidate has reached a level of understanding which demonstrates the ability to use initiative and business awareness.

Business Practice

English for Business
This qualification is intended for candidates who have achieved a sound understanding of English in a business context, gained either through previous learning or employment or both, and who are able to communicate in a familiar business situation effectively, and with only minimal assistance or supervision. The qualification consists of a mandatory reading and writing exam and optional speaking and listening exams.

Text Production
This qualification is intended for candidates who are working in a position that requires a demonstrable standard of the ability to transcribe documents from printed or handwritten copy. This also covers the correct ways of producing and presenting communications in a business context.

Award Criteria
  • Individual Certificate (FOC) will be awarded for each subject passed (50% mark)
  • Private Secretary’s Diploma – Students must pass BA, BP, TP, EFB within 24 months
  • Diploma in Business Administration – Students must pass BA, BP, ICT Skills within 24 months
  • Student must combine the Diploma within 12 months upon receiving all relevant individual subject certificates and pay a combined certificate fee of $100 (inclusive of GST) for each Diploma
  • Minimum 75% attendance is required for each subject to qualify for a Certificate of Attendance if requested
Remarks
  • Practical ICT skills and Text Production will be conducted in Yishun only
  • Students are required to bring their own thumbdrive for every lesson when attending Practical ICT skills and Text Production subjects
